Ambulance

9-1-1's Role.. is to determine the nature of your emergency and your location so help can get to you quickly.

Once East Central 911 knows the scope of your emergency, you will be immediately transferred to 1 of 3 Alberta Health Services, Ambulance Dispatch Centres.  East Central 911 will be monitoring the call until such time as no other Emergency Services are required.

Ambulance Dispatch.
You will be transferred within moments.  Ambulance will confirm your location, and collect information regarding your medical emergency. The nearest available ambulance will be dispatched to your location.  If all ambulances from the community nearest to you are unavailable, then an ambulance from the next nearest community will be dispatched.  We encourage that you ask Ambulance Dispatch about anticipated ambulance arrival times so that you can prepare and make the best decision for your family.

Medical Co-Response by Fire Departments.

If you live in a community that does not have an ambulance nearby, you are served by a Fire Department that is trained in Medical Co-Response.  East Central 911 will dispatch these Volunteers that live close to you and who can be there within moments to render assistance until the ambulance gets there.

All Fire Departments will attend to provide assistance in Medical Emergency's if asked to do so.
