EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION OFFICER – CASUAL

East Central 911 is a not for profit, municipally owned organization providing professional emergency call coordination and rural fire dispatch services to over 37000 residents and 24 local fire departments.
We are accepting applications to compliment our casual pool of Emergency Communication Officers.  These positions will require successful candidates to have a flexible schedule and the ability to come to work on short notice.​


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):

  • Receive and evaluate emergency 911 calls.
  • Coordinate and dispatch various requests for assistance or response of local and/or regional emergency services and other related agencies using computer aided dispatch (CAD).
  • Monitor direct emergency alarms, answer non-emergency calls for assistance with work alone, after hours and utilities concerns, and mobilize appropriate resources.
  • Operate a variety of communications and computer equipment including a multi-line telephone, with accuracy, in a fast-paced work environment.

SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER

  • Working nights and dayshifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Work on short notice to meet operational needs.
  • Will experience crisis situations and be required to multi-task while remaining calm and confident.
  • Not easily able to leave work area during shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent).
  • Excellent ability to speak, read, and write/type clear, concise English.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and communicate moderately complex oral and written instructions.
  • Demonstrate respect and discretion for private information accessed on the job.
  • Work effectively within organizational policy as an individual and in a team environment.
  • Standard First Aid Level C.
  • Pass a criminal record check.
  • Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft office products.
